Boucher Wins Chip-N Club Invitational

Getting that grade was motivation enough for Boucher as she won her fourth tournament title Tuesday at the Chip-N Club Invitational, shooting rounds of 76-72-71. Boucher's play helped pace the Wildcat team to a second-place finish, with a combined score of 935.
'The course played tough,' head coach Kristi Knight said. 'There were really fast greens and challenging hole locations, but Christine handled it well. She played very solid.' Nebraska won its home tournament by 21 strokes, shooting a team total of 904. Boucher beat Nebraska's Merynn Ito and Stephanie Schaefer by four and six shots, respectively.
'Christine had a great tournament,' Knight said. 'I'm proud of her. She stayed patient. She had some beautiful shots, but wasn't doing really well with her putter. When you really push, you can make mistakes, but Christine took what came and she was rewarded with a first-place finish.'
Wildcat freshman Helene Robert finished tied for 15th, with rounds of 74-84-79 - 237. Senior Karen Quintelier just missed a top 20 finish, with a combined 240 to end tied for 21st. 'It was a good tournament for Helene's first college outing,' Knight said. 'She was really fighting her putter and trying to get the ball to the holes. I think she and Katy (Heffel) both will benefit from this tournament experience.'
The Wildcats continue the fall season at the Price's Give Em Five Challenge in Las Cruces, N.M. Oct 6-9. For complete results of the Chip-N Club Invitational, please visit Kansas State's website at www.kstatesports.com.
