Head of the Iowa Up Next For K-State Rowing

MANHATTAN, Kan. Fall competition continues for the Kansas State women’s rowing team as the Wildcats prepare for this weekend’s Head of the Iowa regatta on Sunday, Oct. 31 in Iowa City, Iowa.
K-State will have two boats competing in the women’s open eight event at 3:35 p.m., while three additional boats are entered in the women’s novice eight race at 2:20 p.m. Hosted by the University of Iowa, this year’s collegiate field includes crews from Minnesota, Drake, Nebraska, Kansas and Creighton. Racing is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on the Iowa River.
“We have spent the last four weeks doing rather heavy training,” Head Coach Patrick Sweeney said. “We have made a few personnel changes since our last race and we are quite pleased with the continued progress of our young team. We are really excited, as usual, for the Novices to race. One never knows what to expect from their first racing experience.”
The Wildcats had three teams place in the top 10 a year ago, including a fifth-place finish in the women’s open eight and third-place finish in the women’s novice eight. Complete results and times from the Head of the Iowa regatta can be accessed at: www.hawkeyesports.com.
