"The team has done a good job this year. We've worked hard to build speed and continue getting faster throughout the season," head coach Kennedy Felice said. "We're proud of what we've been able to accomplish, and we have pushed our program forward, but we know we're not done yet."
Last year at the conference championship the team finished in 4th place with 49 points, while the 1v4+ and 2v4+ both earned a silver medal and the 3v8+ claimed bronze.
The Cats finished the regular season on April 30 with four dominating wins in the Creighton Duel over the Bluejays.
Prior to that, K-State earned three medals during the SIRA Championship (April 18-19), gold for the 3v8+ and silver for the 1v4+ and 2v4+.
The Wildcats raced in the annual Sunflower Showdown on April 11 against in-state rival Kansas with the Jayhawks taking the Kansas Cup with 22 points. During the first two races of the season in the Sarasota 2k, the 3v8+ and 1v4+ competed in the Petite 'B' final and at the Hornet Invitational, the 1v4+ won two out of its three races.
"Big 12s is another opportunity to pit everything together. We're excited to race this weekend," Felice added.
