Kansas State Western Equestrian Team Ties for First with Black Hawk College

The K-State western equestrian team finished tied for first with Black Hawk College in the first of two western shows today at Fox Creek Stables. The Cats tied with BHC for 33 points and are still trailing BHC by four points in the regional standings. K-State’s Erin Peery was the Reserve High-Point Rider for today’s show with 10 points. “We will just try to get ahead in tomorrow’s show,” Head coach Lindsay Breidenthal said. “All of the girls rode very well with just a few mistakes, so we’ll look to fix those and score high again tomorrow.”
In intermediate II horsemanship, section A, Macie Ayers placed first and teammate Teal Ludwick took fourth. Rebecca Murphy got first in intermediate I horsemanship and Michelle Schneider also placed first in intermediate II horsemanship, section B. In beginner horsemanship Rachel Etkin placed third.
Brandi Vogel, Nicole Ruff and Lindsey Hicks placed first, third and fourth respectively in open horsemanship, section B. While in section A of open horsemanship Erin Peery placed first and Heather Zsamba placed third.
In novice horsemanship, section A, Lauren Allen placed first. While in sections B and C, Krystal Briggs placed second and both Grace Ellsaesser and Elaine Cobb placed third. Erin Perry placed fourth with Brandi Vogel right behind her in open reining. K-State placed first, second and fourth in advanced horsemanship with Megan Felts, Dennon Zimbelman and Megan Hemberger placing respectively.
Tomorrow’s show is set to start at 9:00 a.m. at Fox Creek Stables with open reining.
