DALLAS Four members of the Kansas State women’s tennis team were honored on the 2004 Women’s Tennis Academic All-Big 12 Conference Team as announced by the league office Tuesday.
A total of 61 student-athletes were named to the men’s and women’s academic lists. Simosa was joined on the first team by junior Maria Rosenberg, who is an art and modern languages major at K-State.
Sophomore Aveen Alkhatib, a chemical engineering major, and senior Paulina Castillejos, a management information systems major, rounded out the Wildcats’ second team selections. Castillejos, from Puebla, Mexico, is a three-time All-Big 12 honoree and recently won the Big 12 positional championship at No. 1 doubles with teammate Rosenberg.
Nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the tennis academic all-league squads consisted of 49 first team members combined with 12 on the second team.
