Rosenberg and Castillejos Earn All-Conference Honors

DALLAS Kansas State’s Maria Rosenberg and Paulina Castillejos were named to the 2004 All-Big 12 Conference Women’s Tennis Doubles Team in a vote by the league’s coaches Tuesday.
Rosenberg and Castillejos, Big 12 No. 1 doubles positional champions, compiled an 8-3 record in league play this past season going 17-9 overall. A preseason all-conference pick, Rosenberg was also selected to the All-Big 12 Women’s Tennis Singles Team. The Wildcats’ top ace went 10-10 against Big 12 competition and posted a 20-16 overall record in 2003-04. She was named co-Big 12 Player of the Week on Feb. 10 and was ranked No. 83 nationally in singles on Feb. 24.
A tie in the voting resulted in a 13-person Big 12 women’s all-league group in singles, while there were six All-Big 12 doubles teams selected. Oklahoma’s Anda Perianu was named Big 12 Player of the Year, while Texas A&M’s Helga Vieira and Texas’ Petra Dizdar earned Newcomer and Freshman Player of the Year honors respectively.
