Moore Sets Personal Record at Chile Pepper Invitational

Following Moore, freshman Alex Umberger recorded an 82nd-place finish, crossing the line at 31:44.9 in his longest collegiate race. Senior Christian Smith rounded out the top three K-State runners with a 107th-place finish and a time of 32:09.0. The K-State men finished 17th overall as a team.
According to Coach Smith, the atmosphere surrounding the race is one of the best in the country.

After seeing the results of this weekend’s race, Coach Smith feels confident about the men’s team going into the Big 12 Championships in two weeks.
“I feel like our guys are ready for the conference meet,” added Smith. “I was pleased with the effort I saw today. I feel that if we do what we’re capable of doing, we can place well at the Big 12 Championships. Our guys are in great shape, so we should see their best stuff in a couple weeks.”
Freshman Jana Gwinn crossed the line in 144th-place for the women’s team with a time of 23:40.4. Behind Gwinn, sophomore Stephanie Lavin finished 165th clocking a time of 24:03.2.
