Western Squad Wraps Up Fall

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State equestrian team will wrap up the fall season this weekend as the Western squad heads to Kewannee, Ill., and Blackhawk College for two shows.

The Wildcats, who will square off against Iowa State, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State, Blackhawk College and Truman State, conclude the fall season with a show on Saturday at 11 a.m. before wrapping up competition Sunday with an 8 a.m. show. K-State will send 26 members of the Western team to Blackhawk College for competition this weekend.

“This will be the last show of the fall season for us,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “While we currently have a fairly substantial lead in the region, it would be nice to go into this weekend and increase that lead. It would relieve some pressure in the spring and allow us to focus on preparing for postseason competition rather than worrying about winning the region. We just need to be focused and go in and ride well.”

The Wildcat Western squad has taken home first place team honors in four of five shows this fall and currently holds a substantial lead in the regional standings heading into this weekend’s action.
