Cats post 62-53 win in Exhibition

MANHATTAN Kansas State started out exhibition play on the right foot Thursday night, beating the EA Sports All-Stars 62-53 in front of 4,490 fans at Bramlage Coliseum.
Sophomore transfer David Hoskins had a successful debut as a Wildcat, leading the team with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He also added six rebounds and five assists. Also in double figures for the Wildcats was junior Lance Harris with his 12 points, connecting on 2-of-3 three pointers. He also added five rebounds and four assists to the mix.
Cardell Butler led the All-Stars with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including a 4-of-6 mark from behind the arc. Michael Joiner, Zoran Viskovic and Anthony Walton all added six points for the All-Stars.
The teams battled back-and-forth to begin the game with the All-Stars leading 14-13 with 11:58 left in the first half. After a jumper by Akeem Wright, a lay-up by Curtis Allen and a fast-break dunk by Hoskins, the Wildcats led 19-14 and never looked back. EA Sports mounted a comeback to end the first half, scoring the last five points to cut the K-State advantage to 28-26 at the break.
The Wildcats came out of the locker room on fire, using a 16-6 run to build a 44-32 lead with just under 14 minutes to play. The advantage ballooned to a game-high 18 points after a three-point basket by junior Cartier Martin.
With K-State's new offense on display for the first time this season, the Wildcats held a big advantage in fast-break points with a 17-2 margin. Kansas State also dominated in rebounds holding a 48-28 advantage.
The Wildcats will wrap up their exhibition slate next Thursday, Nov. 10, against Emporia State. First tip is set for 7 p.m.
