Wildcat Equestrian Places Second in Morning Show and Wins Afternoon Show at Fox Creek Stables

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State Equestrian team competed in a morning and afternoon session on Saturday at Fox Creek Stables. K-State was one of 11 schools competing. The other schools include: Augustana College, Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Iowa State University, Missouri State University, Northern Illinois University, Northwest Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University, Truman State University, and Washington University.

In the morning show the High Point team was Southern Illinois with 37 points and in second place was K-State with 35 points. Also the High Point rider was Heather Chatham of K-State and Reserve High Point Rider was Chrstine Zeger of Iowa State. In the afternoon show the High Point team was the host team Kansas State with 39 points and in second place was Northern Illinois with 30 points. The High Point Rider was Alexandra Szarmach and Reserve High Point rider was Sheila Gallery of Southern Illinois.

“The differences between shows today were the fence classes,” head coach Teresa Slough said. “We needed to step it up today in the afternoon, we definitely did, I am not discrediting SIU’s performance because they did great. We came out and really performed well in the afternoon shows, and we are very fortunate to have that kind of performance today.”
