K-State Sweeps SMS, 7-0

MANHATTAN - After breaking a three-match losing streak Friday, the Kansas State women’s tennis team evened their season record at 3-3 as it swept Southwest Missouri State (1-6) 7-0 on Saturday at Ahearn Fieldhouse.
K-State again got off to a hot start, winning the doubles point, as the Wildcats won all three doubles matches for the second straight day. The team of Maria Rosenberg and Tamar Kvaratskhelia took out Elizabeth Garza and Maja Stanojevic, 8-0. Rosenberg and Kvaratskhelia, ranked 60th in the nation, improved to 9-3 on the season, including a three-match win streak. Jessica Simosa and Judith Diaz, undefeated this season in doubles play, were down early, but came back to beat Paty Manzur and Mali Gakovic, 8-4. In the third doubles match, Tereza Prochazkova and Fernanda De Valle swept Stephanie Harmazy and Carolina Ardila, 8-0. Prochazkova and De Valle evened their season record at 2-2.
In singles play, (109) Rosenberg extended her match win streak to three as she knocked off SMS number one singles player Garza by a final score of 6-0, 6-2.
K-State also won the number four through six singles matches. Diaz defeated her opponent Gakovic, 6-2, 6 2. Prochazkova had no trouble getting past Ardila, winning 6-2, 6-0. In the number six singles match, Da Valle handled Harmazy 6-1, 6-0.
