Four K-State Rowers Named CRCA National Scholar Athletes

For the second-straight year, seniors Linzi Hauldren and Grace Riekenberg were honored for their achievements in the classroom. Hauldren carried a 3.616 grade-point average in elementary education and Riekenberg an impressive 3.752 GPA in English literature. Both were named CRCA National Scholar Athletes in 2004.
Junior Stephanie Black and sophomore Amy Wagner were also honored on the scholar athlete list. Black compiled a 3.685 GPA in psychology and Wagner a 3.607 GPA in kinesiology. All four rowers earned varsity letters this past season, having competed in K-State’s First Varsity Eight boat.
A total of 142 student-athletes from 49 schools were honored for their efforts during the 2005 season. The Central Region produced 36 selections among 11 different schools.
The award annually recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better, who have competed in 75 percent of the team’s 2005 spring races, are upperclassmen in terms of eligibility and have been nominated by head coaches who are good standing members of the CRCA.
