Felice was elevated to head coach in May 2025
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State women's rowing first year head coach Kennedy Felice announced on Tuesday (September 9) the addition of two recent Wildcats graduates, Halle Fee and Symone Simmons, to her 2025-26 coaching staff.
Â
"We are very excited to add Halle and Symone to our staff," Felice said. "Both of these additions to our staff will help continue to push our program forward, while making sure our athletes feel supported as they navigate their time in college.
Â
"I've had the privilege of working with Halle and Symone as athletes, and I am looking forward to seeing how they continue to positively impact our program as they step into these new roles."
Â
Fee is named an assistant coach after spending the last four years with the team from 2021-25.
Â
During her senior season in 2025 she earned a bronze medal at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship and defeated Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown, both with the 1v4+. At the Big 12 Championship she earned a silver medal with the 2v4+, the best conference finish of her career.
Â
Fee's first two years with the Cats included multiple medal worthy performances. As a freshman in 2022, she earned a gold medal at the SIRA Championship competing in the 3v8+ and a silver medal at the Sunshine State Invitational. In 2023 she won a silver medal at the SIRA Championship and aided K-State's win of the Kansas Cup during the Sunflower Showdown, competing in both competitions in the 1v4+.
Â
Fee, from Lee's Summit, Mo., was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team three years.
Â
"Getting to teach a sport as different and cool as rowing is what I'm the most excited about. I think these girls will push me to be better and I am excited to see their progression throughout the course of the year," Fee said.
Â
Simmons, a native of Garden City, Kan., will serve as a student assistant coach, previously a part of the Wildcats team for the last four seasons.
Â
She capped off her career in 2025 with a silver medal at the SIRA Championship and finished fourth at Big 12s, both with 1v8+.
Â
During Simmons' sophomore season in 2023 she was part of the 2v8+ who defeated the Jayhawks for the Kansas Cup and won gold at the SIRA Championship with the 1v8+. In the classroom she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team every year of her career.
Â
"I am super excited for this next year and getting the opportunity to give back to the program that gave so much to me. It's a privilege to be able to coach some of the hardest working athletes and see all their hard work pay off," Simmons said.
Â
Felice, who was elevated to head coach on May 18 after the retirement of longtime head coach Patrick Sweeney, also retains assistant coaches Beth Damman and Lindsey DeVreugd from last year's staff.
Â
"This is an exciting time for our program. We have a great staff and a great group of athletes we get to work with every day," Felice said. "We want to say thank you to everyone who has helped build our team into what we are today and we're looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year."
