MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State women's rowing team will start the 2026 season on Saturday-Sunday (March 14-15) with the Hornet Invitational hosted by Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif., on Lake Natoma. This is the fifth consecutive season the Wildcats have competed in Sacramento.
"We're looking forward to racing this weekend" head coach Kennedy Felice said. "The team has done a good job with winter training and they have stayed focused as we have prepared for racing and this spring."
The weekend will consist of three sessions, both on Saturday morning and afternoon before wrapping up on Sunday morning. Competing teams include the hosting Hornets, St. Mary's, UC San Diego and Humboldt.
Last season the Wildcats finished 1st in six races including a sweep of all three races from the 1v4+.
"Racing is the fun part of the year and this weekend we have multiple opportunities to come down the course against solid competition" Felice said. "Each race is an opportunity to keep pushing the program forward."
This weekend marks the first competition under first-year coach Felice. Following racing the team will embark on spring conditioning in Sacramento.
