On May 18, 2025, Kennedy Felice, was elevated to head coach after five seasons as one of Patrick Sweeney's assistant coaches. Felice was a four-year member of the K-State rowing team from 2015-19 before serving as a graduate assistant from 2020-22.
"I want to say thank you to Gene and Jill for this opportunity. I am excited for this next chapter with K-State Rowing," Felice said. "This team and K-State mean so much to me. We have built something special here in Manhattan and I am grateful to be part of that. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my time here. I cannot wait to see what we accomplish next. Also, a huge thank you to my friends, family, and mentors for your support throughout my career.
"I also want to say thank you to Coach Sweeney. He built K-State Rowing into what we are today. It has been a privilege working with him as an athlete and as a coach. We can never say thank you enough for the opportunities he created for all of us who have been part of this program."
The Manhattan, Kansas native was a four-time letterman for the Cats, competing in the 2v8+ during the 2016 season and racing in the 1v8+ for three seasons of her career.
During the fall of 2015, Felice was a member of novice crews that picked up gold medals in the Novice 4+ and the Novice 8+ events at the Head of the Oklahoma.
After claiming gold at SIRAs in 2017, Felice and other members of the 1v8+ earned Boat of the Week honors.
During the 2019 season, Felice helped lead the 1v8+ to a gold medal in the grand final at the 2019 SIRA Championships. The season was highlighted by the crew's victory over Kansas at the Dillons Sunflower Showdown. The win solidified a clean sweep over Kansas.
Following the 2018 Big 12 Championships, Felice finished the season with K-State as a fourth-place finisher in the 1v8+, where she also earned First Team All-Big 12 honors.
A four-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team award winner, Felice was also named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athlete following the 2018 season. She was also a captain during the 2018-2019 school year and served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well as the President's Advisory Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics.
