Cross Country Season Heats up with Chile Pepper

The Wildcat women’s team will look to build off of its fifth-place team finish two weeks ago at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree. Head coach Michael Smith would like to see his team take some big steps this weekend in preparation for the Big 12 conference meet on Nov. 11.
“I would really like to see all six of our women run what they’re capable of running,” said Smith. “I don’t think that all six have put together their best races on the same day so far this season.”
Coming off of a 44th-place finish, and his fastest 8K-time of the season (26:21) at the Cowboy Jamboree, sophomore Colin Swaney will once again look to lead the Wildcat men’s team. Swaney has finished as K-State’s top runner in three of four events this season. The men’s 10K race will be the longest race that the Wildcats have competed in this season.

“This is a great field (of runners at the Chile Pepper Invitational),” said Smith. “I think we’ll see some good runners from great programs. We’ve practiced well since the last race, so I’m excited to see what we can do.”
