Wildcats Quiet Through First Day of Thunderbird Invite

Viviana Yrureta and Tamar Kvaratskhelia both won singles matches and Olga Klimova teamed with Katerina Kudlackova to earn a doubles win at the
Yrureta was the only Wildcat player to earn a win in the first round of the singles main draw, topping
Kvaratskhelia drew No. 8 seeded Marion Ravelojaona from California in the opening round and was defeated 6-2, 6-2, before rebounding with a straight set win over Arizona State’s Amanda Martin in consolation play.
Klimova and Kudlackova opened Friday’s competition with a doubles win over Pepperdine’s Jillian Braverman and Sylvia Kosakowski, 8-5.
Saturday’s portion of the competition begins with doubles play, followed by two rounds of singles matches. Play will continue through Sunday.
