Wildcats fall in OT at Baylor
Feb 01, 2006 | Men's Basketball

WACO, Texas - Cartier Martin’s 17-foot jumper at the buzzer was off the mark and Baylor held on for its first win since Jan. 19, 2005 as the Wildcats fell to the Bears 72-70 in overtime Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.
Clent Stewart scored a career-high 19 points and Martin added 15 to lead Kansas State (12-6, 3-4), which suffered its second overtime road loss of the season.
Curtis Jerrells, whose 3-pointer near the end of overtime put Baylor on top for good, finished with 15 points for the Bears. Baylor (1-6, 1-6) also got a game-high 23 points from Henry Dugat on six 3-pointers and another 10 points from Aaron Bruce.
Kevin Rodgers’ tip-in with 1:21 left in regulation sent the game to overtime tied at 62. Baylor went on to lead by as many as six during the extra session.
The Wildcats rallied and led 70-69 after Lance Harris drilled a 3-pointer from the corner, but could not hold the lead as Jerrels’ trey was enough to give Baylor its first win of the season.
Kansas State, which shot just 16-for-25 from the free throw line, had the final shot in both regulation and in overtime but was unable to convert either potential game winner.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4, when Kansas State hosts Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum. The game is sold out.
