How Sweep It Is... Cats Win 11th Straight

The Wildcats’ current 11-game winning is the longest since K-State won 11 in a row in 2004 in Brad Hill’s first season as head coach. The last time K-State won more than 11 games in a row was a 14-game streak between the 1911 and 1912 seasons.
Bayuk (3-0) scattered just two hits over 7.0 innings to earn his third straight win and struck out five with no walks Sunday for the Wildcats. Relievers Justin Murray and Trevor Hurley, both true freshmen, each threw one inning to preserve the shutout for
Nine different Wildcats recorded hits on the afternoon, led by Tyler Link, Joe Roundy and Barrett Rice’s two apiece. Link and Rice also each homered on the afternoon as K-State improved to 9-0 at home this season.
K-State got on the board in the first as Tyler Link led off with a double to left center and moved to third on an Eddie Vasquez sacrifice bunt. Cris Tapia then delivered a sacrifice fly to right to plate Link for the game’s first run.
Then, after both pitchers settled in, the Wildcats finally broke through for five runs in the sixth inning as freshman Tyler Link belted his first career homer to get things going. Then, after run-scoring singles from Joe Roundy and Byron Wiley, and a wild pitch, K-State had extended its lead to 5-0. Rob Vaughn drove in Wiley with a sacrifice fly to left for a 6-0 K-State lead.
Roundy, with his two hits, ran his current hitting streak to a career-best 11 games, while 11 current Wildcats are riding multi-game hitting streaks.
