Wildcats Drop 4-3 Decision to Hawkeyes

The Wildcats (5-4, 1-2) won at all three doubles positions and took an early 1-0 lead, but Iowa (9-2) charged back with four consecutive singles wins to clinch the match. K-State’s Fernanda Da Valle stopped the Hawkeye run with her 6-4, 6-4, win over Kayla Berry at No. 5 singles, but the match had already been decided.
After taking the doubles point for the fifth consecutive match, the Wildcats needed to win half of the singles matches to earn the victory. Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Katerina Kudlackova were defeated in straight sets and Jessica Simosa and Maria Perevoschikova came up short in grueling three-set matches. Hillary Mintz won the match for
Olga Klimova was last to finish but won her fourth consecutive singles match with a 6-1, 7-6(7-4), win over Krissy Dowlin at No. 6. Klimova is 4-1 in dual play this season.
Kvaratskhelia and Perevoschikova teamed up for their fifth consecutive doubles victory, topping Mintz and Milica Veselinovic, 8-2.
