Wildcats Win Sunflower Showdown, 6-1

In doubles play, Olga Klimova and Fernanda Da Valle cruised to a victory at No. 3 and No. 56 Kansas State won the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match, but it wasn’t without struggle.
The No. 74 Jayhawks (5-6, 0-3) built early leads at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but the Wildcats (6-4, 2-2) rallied to make each close. At No. 2 doubles, Tamar Kvaratskhelia and Maria Perevoschikova found themselves in a 5-3 hole to Lauren Hommell and Edina Horvath, but climbed back to win their sixth consecutive doubles match, 8-6.
At No. 1 doubles, Simosa and Katerina Kudlackova rallied from a 6-1 deficit and forced a tie-break, but fell to Ksenia Bukina and Elizaveta Avdeeva, 8-7(7-3).
The Wildcats turned the tables in singles play, jumping out with first set victories in three of the first four matches. Kvaratskhelia, the No. 89 player in the nation, topped No. 99 Bukina, 6-1, 6-0 to give the Wildcats their second point of the match.
Perevoschikova finished her match at No. 3 singles next, defeating Christine Skoda, 6-4, 7-6(7-5) and Kudlackova topped Hommell at No. 4 in three sets to clinch the match for
