Baseball Sweeps For 15th Straight Win

Roundy, with his four hits Saturday, finished the weekend 8-for-9 with a homer and eight RBI’s to lead the Wildcat offense and also extended his current hitting streak to a Big 12 season-best and career-high 15 games. Freshman Tyler Link, who has hit safely in all six games played this season, and Cris Tapia also collected three hits Saturday as the Cats out-hit the Bison, 17-2, in the final game of the series.
K-State starter Chase Bayuk moved to 4-0 on the season after 7.0 shutout innings of work Saturday. The sophomore lefty scattered just two hits and struck out five in a winning effort. Freshmen relievers Justin Murray and Trevor Hurley each threw scoreless innings to preserve the win.
K-State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Cris Tapia laced a single to left center to plate Eddie Vasquez for the game’s first run. Vasquez reached on a bunt single before promptly stealing second. Tapia added another RBI-single in the third to score Jared Goedert, who led off with a double, to up the lead to 2-0.
Then in the fourth, Tyler Link singled to left with two outs before stealing second. Eddie Vasquez followed with a single to center to plate Link for a 3-0 Wildcat lead. Joe Roundy’s two-run homer in the fifth, his third of the season, added some insurance to give K-State a 5-0 advantage.
The Wildcats poured on three more runs in the eighth thanks to three Bison errors to go ahead 9-0 heading into the final frame.
