Sellers Titles Pentathlon, Qualifies in High Jump

Sellers, the reigning NCAA outdoor high jump champion, finished the high jump nearly five inches better than Lamar Garrett, competing unattached. Sellers also took first in the long jump with a personal best distance of 23-08.25.
K-State newcomers Rok Derzanic (3,839) and Moritz Cleve (3,792) and junior Adam Fretwell (3,635) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Cleve earned a number of points from a strong performance in the 1000M as he finished in a time of 2:42.21, ahead of Derzanic at 2:48.77.
Senior Lindsey Grigoriev led the Wildcat women with a third-place finish in the pentathlon, as she tallied 3,449 in the meet. The remaining K-State competitors, Annika Schoenbeck (3,448), Stephanie Hedje (3,284) and Nancy Harrington (2,961), placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Grigoriev had a top-finish in the shot put after recording a toss of 41-10.00. Schoenbeck paced the pack in the 800M with a first-place finish of 2:26.34.
The Wildcats will continue action on Saturday from Ahearn Field House with the KSU All-Comers meet, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the men’s weight throw.
