Seven Runners Earn Big 12 All-Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas The Big 12 Conference announced earlier this week that seven runners from Kansas State’s cross country team made the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team. Jason Collett, Danny Schneider, Emily Dittemore, Meg Gentry, Megan-Anne Perrin and Beverly Ramos were named to the first team and Tyler Fennema was named to the second team.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Junior Beverly Ramos is one of eight nominated with a 4.00 GPA for both the men’s and women’s team. Ramos is placed on the first team for the second straight year in as many years. The
Fellow junior Megan-Anne Perrin was honored for the second straight year on the first team. Perrin has competed in all four events to date for the Cats including a career best 6K time of 22:33 at the Pre-NCAA Invitational.
Seniors Emily Dittemore and Meg Gentry are placed on the first team as well, making four total for the women’s team. Dittemore was selected for the second straight year while Gentry receives her first selection of her career. Dittemore has competed in all four events being a third runner for the Cats in two of the four races. Gentry has competed in three events this season with a 13th place finish at the Wichita State Classic in September.
