K-State Opens with 96-57 win over FAMU

Nov 14, 2008 | Men's Basketball

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -Denis Clemente had 19 points and Jacob Pullen added 17, helping Kansas State open the post-Michael Beasley era with an easy 96-57 win over Florida A&M Friday night.

Kansas State hounded the Rattlers into poor shots and dominated the offensive glass to jump out to leads of 17-2 and 30-4 on its way to winning its 12th straight home opener. The Wildcats shot just 7-for-28 from 3-point range, but made up for it with 24 offensive rebounds, including 17 in the first half.

Dominique Sutton had 13 points, freshman Jamar Samuels added 11 and Ron Anderson had 12 rebounds for Kansas State.

Florida A&M had never beaten a Big 12 opponent in 10 tries and found itself overmatched and overwhelmed against the bigger, more athletic Wildcats. The Rattlers shot 33 percent, including 3-for-20 on 3-pointers, and were out-rebounded 53-31. Dunnell Webb led the Rattlers with 15 points.
