Wildcats to Run at Woody Greeno Invitational

Both Wildcat teams are coming off victories at the J.K. Gold Classic, two weeks ago, and are looking to continue their success in
“We are looking for several things, from both the men’s team and women’s team, at this race. One, is that this will be our first race of the year at the championship distance. It has been since November that we have run at this distance, so we will use this race to get used to the championship distance again. Two, we will be looking to stay next to
Smith is looking for his older runners to go out and shake the rust off and get used to running the 6K race again. Junior Beverly Ramos, who won the J.K. Gold Classic, won the event a year ago with a 6K time of 21:21.85. Senior Liliani Mendez, another veteran runner for the Cats, placed fifth in last year’s meet with a time of 21:46.55. The two have been consistent top-tier runners dating back to last season as well as early this season.
The third runner will continue to be a competition as coach Smith looks towards senior Emily Dittemore to lead the push along with junior Megan-Anne Perrin, freshman Emilee Morris and senior Meg Gentry. This will be Morris’ first competition of her career at the 6K distance
“I think for the men, in our top three, we need to compete with
Senior Colin Swaney will be racing for the first time, as he did not compete in the first race of the season so he could get more training outside of competition. Swaney scored in the Big 12 Indoor 3K race last track season and is looking to perform at a high level for the men’s cross country team this weekend. Along side Swaney in the top three will be fellow seniors Alex Umberger and Danny Schneider. Umberger placed 17th last season at the Invitational and Schneider finished 25th.
