The Wildcats bested rival
Coach Patrick Sweeney said the team’s season opener was a big success and was glad to see his entire team perform so well and receive recognition for it.
“We are very pleased with the early season performance, winning both varsity and novice eights and fours in convincing style,” he said. “We were also pleased to bring home the Collegiate Team trophy as evidence of all boats' contribution to the program's success."
As Sweeney mentioned, the Wildcats also won the Collegiate 4+ and Novice 4+ events. The Wildcats’ second-place finish on the day also came in the Collegiate 4+ as the team entered multiple boats in the event.
The Wildcats will take to the water next on November 8 against rival Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown in Manhattan.
