Western Squad to Ride for Fifth at VENC

Although the Wildcats registered several wins, the Cowgirls defeated Only two Wildcat riders picked up victories in Western competition, both of which were in the reining category. Senior Tara Hallan upended Leah Kuehn, 139-135, while junior Kaylee Stout added another win to her record as she defeated Bri Parnell by a tight margin, 134.5-133.5. In Hunter Seat competition, two Senior Whitney Snyder guided the Wildcats over fences and also picked up her second win of the weekend by defeating Ali Loprete, 131-126. Snyder advanced her overall record to 20-11-1 with five MVP honors for the year. Sophomore Jen Rawle rounded out the Wildcats over fences by defeating Dottie Grubb by a large margin, 151-130. Both K-State’s Western squad and Hunter Seat squad went on to ride in the consolation bracket. The Western squad faced off against ninth-seeded In Western competition, In the horsemanship division, K-State was led by senior Alyssa Freeman. Freeman now owns an overall record of 14-4 on the season with one MVP award. Also picking up wins for the Wildcats were juniors Laura Browne and Mikaela Sundgren. Only one rider picked up a win for K-State, including senior Leslie Yates, who defeated Brooke Coleman, 162-156, in equitation over fences.
