Cats Struggle on Day One

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Kansas State women’s golf team will be looking to rebound in the final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational as it carded a 328-319647 (+71) through two rounds of action at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
Eleven-time tournament champion Ohio State currently leads by a 10-stroke margin, as the Buckeyes shot a 13-over 295-294589, thanks to its top four individuals placing in the top 20.
Northwestern, who carded a 299-300599 (+23), is holding on to second place by four strokes and has two players in the top 10.
Junior Abbi Sunner leads the Wildcats, as she carded a 12-over 79-77156 and sits in a tie for 31st. Fellow junior, Morgan Moon sits only two strokes back from K-State’s leader and is currently tied for 46th.
“Abbi held on and got the most she could out of a tough day,” head coach Kristi Knight said. “Morgan battled back to finish her day with a string of pars after struggling in the beginning of the second round.”
Elise Houtz shot identical 10-over rounds on day one and to tally a score of 164. Ami Storey is in a tie for 77th with a 25-over score of 169.
Paige Osterloo, who missed the first round due to food poisoning, shot a 13-over in the second round and currently sits in 79th, with a score of 85.
The Wildcats will conclude the Lady Buckeye Invitational with a shotgun start Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com and final results will be posted on www.kstatesports.com as soon as they become available.
