K-State Stifled by Texas

WAMGEO, Kan. – Kansas State women’s tennis ended its regular season on Sunday afternoon, but No. 32 Texas came out victorious in the finale, 6-1, at a chilly Wamego Recreation Complex. K-State enters next week’s Big 12 Championships with a 4-14 overall record and a 1-10 mark in conference play. Texas enters the postseason with a 14-6 record and 10-1 league mark.
K-State’s lone singles victory on Sunday came from freshman Mariya Slupska. Playing at the number two position, Slupska outlasted Krista Damico in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7. The product of Kiev, Ukraine has won two of her last three outings and is 12-17 in her first season in a K-State uniform.
Kansas State will take part in the 2009 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championships beginning on Thursday in Norman, Okla.
