K-State Rowing Welcomes 19 During Fall Signing Period

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State rowing team welcomed 19 incoming rowers during the fall signing period, head coach Patrick Sweeney announced.
“I think Hanna (Wiltfong) did a good job going out and getting us some good athletes,” Sweeney said. “Now the job is, when they come here, to turn them into Division-I student-athletes. It will be interesting to see what we can do with them when they get here.”
The team does the majority its of recruiting in the state of Kansas, looking at athletes with no previous rowing experience and who want to continue their athletic careers as Division-I athletes.
The incoming rowers will learn the fundamentals of the sport over their first season before taking part in their first high-level competitions.
K-State kicks off the 2016 racing season on March 5 as it travels to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
