
Wildcats Drop Tough Loss in Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla.- K-State equestrian dropped a tough competition as the No. 9 Wildcats fell short in the spring opener at Totusek Arena on Saturday afternoon to No. 5 Oklahoma State in a head-to-head battle, 11-6.
• Kansas State is now 3-4 on the season, and 1-3
in Big 12 matchups.
• The Wildcats fell just shy in both disciplines
against the Cowgirls: Hunt Seat, 6-3, Western, 5-3.
• Five of the six points came from the
upperclassmen leadership in today’s match up.
• K-State registered one Most Outstanding
Performer (MOP) honor as senior Danielle Kemper captured her
first MOP of the season and career in Reining.
Equitation over Fences
• The Cowgirls notched the victory as the
Wildcats fell short, 3-1.
• Junior Taylor Schmidt carded a score of 81 to
ride past OSU’s Maggie Drysch, 81-80, gaining a point for
Kansas State.
• Schmidt is now 2-6 on the season.
Equitation on the Flat
• The final score in Equitation on the Flat on Saturday
was 3-2, as K-State fell to OSU.
• Junior Gretchen Koenen tailed her
fifth win of the season with a win over Amy White, 83-82, and is now 5-2
this season.
• Christina Martinelli is now 6-8 this season as
she claimed a title against OSU's Maggie Drysch, 82-77.
Horsemanship
• The Wildcats came out fighting at the beginning of
the day in Horsemanship as they dropped a 3-2 decision.
• Junior Sydney Anson carded a score of 74 to
defeat Miranda Reed, 74-67.5, and is now 5-2 on the season.
• Sophomore Ashley Anderson has been riding extremely
well for the Wildcats as she rode past OSU’s, Libby Collins,
72.5-71.5.
Reining
• The final score in Reining on Saturday was 2-1, as
K-State fell to OSU.
• Senior Danielle Kemper clinched her 25th career
win and first MOP honor in Reining by riding past OSU’s Justine Peters, 72-71.
