MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following two weeks of practice, the Kansas State women's golf team is set to get back in action this weekend in San Antonio, Texas, at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at the par-72, 6,450-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
The three-day tournament will feature 18 holes per day with tee times beginning at 11 a.m., on Sunday, 8:30 a.m., on Monday and an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
Kansas State is led by senior Connie Jaffrey. The Kilwinning, Scotland, native has a team-best 72.11 stroke average after leading the Wildcats in their last event, the Magnolia Invitational. Freshman Reid Isaac is right behind Jaffrey in stroke average at 73.55.
"The team is ready to get out and compete," head coach Kristi Knight said. "The break has been nice but they are looking forward to this tournament. Briggs Ranch is a challenging, yet fun, course to play. They have done a great job in practice, workouts and the classroom."
Kansas State's lineup for the event will feature Jaffrey and four freshmen in Isaac, Ella Adams, Niamh McSherry and Darby Deans.
This will be K-State's second-consecutive appearance in the invitational. The Wildcats will be joined in San Antonio by defending tournament champion Arkansas, as well as Denver, Houston, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and tournament host UTSA.
