K-State Places 10 on Academic All-Big 12 Soccer Teams

MANHATTAN, Kansas – At the conclusion of its first season as an official soccer playing member of the Big 12 Conference, the Kansas State women's soccer program have placed a program-high 10 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams in an announcement by the league office on Tuesday.
In its first two seasons of action, Kansas State has now received 13 Academic All-Big 12 citations including 10 first team honors and three second team recognitions.
K-State registered a program-high eight student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team: sophomore forward Katie Cramer, senior defender Kelcy Fiser, redshirt sophomore Krista Haddock, sophomore defender Laramie Hall, junior defender Megan Kalkofen, senior goalkeeper Miranda Larkin, senior forward Jaclyn Means and senior forward Abby Sieperda.
Larkin is the program's first two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, as she garnered the honor in 2016.
The Wildcats also placed junior defender Morgan Egan and sophomore midfielder Ashley Zane on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the women's soccer academic all-league team consisted of 92 first team members combined with 14 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Kansas State concluded its second season of action and its first in the Big 12 with an overall record of 6-11-1 and a league mark of 1-8-0. The six wins are a new program high for wins in a season, while the Wildcats picked up their first Big 12 win on October 6 at Kansas.
