MANHATTAN, KANSAS – K-State soccer head coach Colleen Corbin finalized her coaching staff for the 2026 season, naming Maddie Dobyns as an assistant coach. Dobyns will work with K-State's goalkeepers.
"We are thrilled to be adding Dobby to our staff as we head into the spring season," said Corbin about the program's newest coaching addition. "She has both played and coached at a very high level and has proven to be one of the best goalkeeper coaches in the country.
"Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Dobby's background, methodology, coaching philosophy and expectations align with the vision our staff has for our program and we are looking forward to the positive impact she will have on our young women. I am especially excited for her to work with our already talented goalkeepers and to watch them learn and thrive under her guidance. We welcome Dobby, her wife Rosie and their two dogs to Manhattan and are excited to get to work."
Prior to coming to the Little Apple, Dobyns spent time on the coaching staffs at Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati and her alma mater of Kansas.
"I'm so thankful to Colleen and the entire K-State staff for this opportunity," Dobyns said. "Seeing the program grow and the records broken last fall showed how special this place is. I can't wait to get to work with the team and goalkeepers and be part of a staff that keeps moving this program forward. This is an exciting next step for my family and we're looking forward to calling Manhattan home."
While at Kentucky in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Dobyns helped the Wildcats to a 21-8-11 overall record over the two seasons. In the 2025 season, Dobyns aided the program to a 12-4-5 record and a trip to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. She mentored a pair of Kentucky goalkeepers to a collective 0.79 goals against average (GAA), a save percentage of .754 and eight shutouts.
During her first season with the program in 2024, Dobyns helped Kentucky to a 9-4-6 mark, the program's most wins since 2015. The team reached the SEC Tournament for the first time under the 10-team format since 2015 and advanced to the quarterfinals.
Dobyns helped goalkeeper Marz Josephson post nine shutouts and a 0.62 GAA, the leading mark in the SEC and the third-best in program history. Kentucky's 12 goals allowed on the season were the fewest in a single season in program history.
Before Dobyns arrived in Lexington, she spent two seasons (2022 and 2023) on the Iowa State coaching staff. While in Ames, Dobyns worked with former Iowa State keeper, Jordan Silkowitz, who was selected by the Kansas City Current with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft. Silkowitz was the first player ever to be drafted out of Iowa State and a five-time Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week. Under Dobyn's guidance, Silkowitz led the conference with 100 total saves in 2022.
Dobyns' ability to develop outstanding goalkeepers was evident in her time at Cincinnati. Under Dobyns' leadership, Bearcat goalie Madison Less made tremendous strides during the 2019 campaign. The junior's GAA dropped from 1.83 in 2018 prior to Dobyns' arrival to just 1.12 in 2019. As a team, the Bearcats also allowed 10 fewer goals during Dobyns' first season with the program than the previous year. Less recorded eight shutouts in 2019 en route to being named the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week twice.
Dobyns was a member of the Kansas program from 2013-17 and appeared in 60 matches for the Jayhawks between 2014-17, after utilizing a redshirt in 2013. The team's primary starter over her final three seasons, Dobyns anchored KU to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2016 and was in goal to help the Jayhawks take runner-up honors at the 2015 Big 12 Tournament as the #6 seed in the event. For her career, she left KU ranked #2 in goals against average at 1.06, third in shutouts with 14 and fourth in wins with 29. She also earned her place in the KU record books ranking No. 4 in single-season GAA (0.81 in 2016) and No. 5 in single-season shutouts (6 in 2015).
Following the completion of her playing career, Dobyns remained in Lawrence for the 2018 season and served as the team's Director of Operations where she gained experience both on and off the pitch. She was tasked with the day-to-day operations of the women's soccer program, while assisting in various duties as they related to recruiting, communications, travel and fan engagement. During that time, she also began her coaching career working alongside Nicole Barnhart at KC Athletics. Barnhart is a former member of the U.S. Women's National Team that earned 54 caps for the Americans and currently plays in the NWSL for the Utah Royals.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Dobyns earned two degrees from Kansas, graduating with her Bachelor's in Communications before earning a Master's in Digital Content Strategy. While working toward her degrees, she was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team twice (2015 & 2017) and its Second Team once (2016).
K-State completed the 2025 season with the first winning record in program history. The Wildcats broke 49 school records in Corbin's first season at the helm of the program including wins in a season (7), goals in a season (23) and shutouts (9).
