MANHATTAN, Kan. – With a heat index over 100 degrees at kickoff, K-State and Nebraska battled to a 0-0 draw on Sunday night in front of a season-high crowd of 1,041 at Buser Family Park. K-State has opened the season with a five-match unbeaten streak for the second straight season.

Combined with its home draw to end the 2025 season, Kansas State (4-0-1) is unbeaten in its last six matches which is a school record for the longest unbeaten streak in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a scoreless first half that saw both teams fire off seven shots, the intensity went up another notch in the second half.
- In the 54^th minute, K-State senior midfielder Anna Pagano sent a shot from just over 25 yards away from frame. The attempt looked like it would sneak under the crossbar before Nebraska goalkeeper Avery Gillahan used a fingertip to nudge the ball over the bar for a K-State corner kick.
- In the 67th minute, Nebraska (2-1-3) collected a penalty kick opportunity on a foul just inside the 18-yard box, which was confirmed by video assistant review.
- K-State junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing turned aside the Huskers' Ella Rudney with a diving save to maintain the tie and energize the crowd.
- In the 85^th minute, Sibbing made a diving save on a Kayma Carpenter attempt to prevent the late winner.
- With the shutout, Sibbing improved upon her own school record for shutouts in a career with her 12^th. She made a season-high six saves in the effort, which equaled her high as a Wildcat from last season in a draw at Harvard on Sept. 1, 2025.
- Sibbing owns a shutout streak of three straight matches and an overall duration of 356:10, which is the third-longest duration in terms of minutes in program history.
- For the night, Nebraska held a 15-12 edge in total shots and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior forward Allison Marshall led K-State with four shots.

- Head coach Colleen Corbin is 33-30-18 (.519) in her five career seasons as a head coach. She owns a 11-6-6 mark in her two seasons at K-State.

PLAYER NOTES
- With her one shot on goal, Marshall moved into a tie for ninth in program history for career shots on goal with 26.
- With her six saves, Sibbing tallied her fourth match as a Wildcat with five or more saves and the 10^th of her collegiate career.
- Senior defender Reece Walrod made her 46th consecutive start. This was her 47^th career start and her 56th career match played. Walrod ranks tied for 10^th in program history for career games started.
- Walrod notched 90 minutes of action. With her 90 minutes on Sunday, Walrod improved her career minutes played total to 4,233 and ranks seventh among field players in program history. She has played the full 90 minutes in 24 consecutive matches and 29 of her last 30 matches.
- Senior forward Rilyn Rintoul, senior defender Lily Hendrickson, senior midfielder McKinnan Braswell and junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing each made their 23rd straight starts at K-State.
- Sophomore defender Chloe Dillbeck started her 17^th consecutive match.
- Sophomore midfielder Langley Mayers made her 14^th career start.

On the identity of the team being undefeated after facing Nebraska…
"We're just gritty, and we have an energy about us, top to bottom, that the kids believe in and they trust. They put a lot of trust in the staff and in each other to just roll with the punches and be adaptable and really pivot on the fly. And our team had to do that tonight. Nebraska put us under pressure early and caused us some problems and, this team a year ago panics and responds differently, whereas I really felt like our team rose to the occasion and solved problems. I've talked about the adaptability of this group a lot. They continue to show that. They continue to be teachable. They continue to want to find solutions and not talk about the problems. I think that's a big piece of the puzzle right now."

On the team's defensive performance…
"A lot of really awesome individual efforts. Our collective defensive mentality has always been a big part of our team identity. But a lot of really strong individual defensive efforts tonight. Individual moments with people counter pressing, trying to win the ball back, ending up in 1v1 moments, and having to trap runners when it's hard and uncomfortable. But that's what games like this take. So again, just really proud of everybody's commitment to defending today to keep a shutout."

On the biggest thing to clean up before heading to Iowa…
"I think our in-possession phase. There's been a lot of growth in that area. Right when we have the ball, we want to keep the ball, and we have some weapons up top that are fast that we are going to continue to let run in behind and turn defenders and get them chasing. But continuing to find solutions where we're keeping the ball and making the other team chase in front of us to be able to unlock a couple more things. The growth that we've shown just in this year alone has been pretty phenomenal. So hoping that we take this energy, this momentum, this grit on the road to Iowa, an incredible program. They've done really well this non-con so excited to play another quality opponent."

On what worked well for K-State defensively…
"I think my back line does a really good job of not letting them get many shots off, so I don't really have to deal with much. And whenever I do make saves, they come over and they give me all the confidence in the world that I'm gonna keep making saves."

On what she felt after her penalty kick save…
"It felt really good, but we had to lock in really quickly because we still had the ball in play. But they all came up and they were like, 'I knew you're gonna save it.' They just give me so much love and support, and I love them."

On her role as a leader…
"I think my role has always been to kind of hold it up and turn and play balls in through to my teammates, but I feel like as the game opened up, I was able to turn and drive at people, which obviously opened up shots for myself. But then people outside of me, wingers too, getting involved after the first couple minutes after we settled was very important."

On what needs to be improved to turn 12 shot attempts into goals…
"I think just composure on the ball when we get in those chances. Obviously, Nebraska is such a good team, and I would say definitely the best team that we've played so far. So when we do get in those chances, just taking a breath and being intentional about where we're placing it, whether that be the corners or just the opposite way from the goalie."

On what she saw from Nebraska's defense…
"I would just say the movement from Langley [Mayers] and I has been very good over the last couple games of just us interchanging, so it's hard for them to keep track of who's going where, and so that works very well. Whether it's me checking in and Langley going behind or vice versa, just kept it unpredictable for the back point."
