FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Colleen Corbin
On the number of offensive chances K-State created throughout the match…Â
"We just challenged our kids to be able to expose the areas that we felt like they were going to give us, and we felt like a lot of that was going to come from getting the ball wide. The goals that we scored came from those spaces, and so just really proud of the team's execution of the scout, the game plan, the intentionality behind what we wanted to do, how we wanted to do it, and again, in a game, Colorado is really good at breaking the game up and making it feel combative, and I think the fact that our team was able to find a way through that and still connect at the level that we did and play at the level that we did was really impressive."Â
Â
On Gabby DeMers and the rest of the forwards…Â
"She just continues to work relentlessly and be intentional about what she's doing, how she's doing it, and trying to elevate her game. I thought our entire attacking group tonight was phenomenal. Allison [Marshall] really made a push tonight. Rilyn [Rintoul] really made a push tonight. Adelle [Francis] and Alix [Regier] have been showing up in a big way, and so I just think Gabby isn't as good as Gabby is without the people around her, and vice versa, everybody knows that it's not just about one player doing special things; it's about everybody committing to the game plan. And I really felt like the success that people had individually tonight was because of the collective choice to play for each other."
Â
On the improvements that need to be made going into the game against Iowa State…Â
"I felt like we played pretty freaking well tonight. Some of the best soccer we might have ever played ever. Obviously, giving up three goals is tough. It's a set piece, a penalty kick, and then a missed moment in the box. But if the first couple moments don't happen, then we win the game. So it just feels like we're waiting for a moment to go our way in these big games where we feel like we've done enough to win, and it just hasn't happened, and that's the game, unfortunately. Soccer's not fair, life's not fair, and we just got to keep showing up and doing the work heading into next week."Â
