FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Colleen Corbin
On the team's play in transition tonight…Â
"We created some incredibly dangerous chances in front of goal and were really dangerous out wide and using our pace and athleticism to get in behind them. Defensively in transition I think we had a few moments where we could have problem solved a little bit better and been a little bit more patient. Overall, the game was pretty chaotic, especially in the second half, and I think the team did a great job managing the game and creating dangerous chances when we had the opportunity to do so."Â
Â
On the season-high 14 shots on goal…Â
"We have been talking a lot about trying to be more efficient in the final third and choosing to create the most dangerous opportunities. I think overall, the team did a really great job of leveraging our chances and making the goalkeeper make saves. The team has also continued to grow in their confidence in the in-possession phase in the final third, and it definitely shows in the offensive opportunities we are generating."
Â
On handling the dicey moments including the late save from Maddie Sibbing…Â
"There were definitely a few sketchy moments towards the end of the match and the team did well to weather the storm. We know that these games are separated by incredibly small margins, and that the smallest moment with a lapse in focus can result in disaster. The girls were resilient and found a way to earn a result on the road in a really challenging environment."Â
Â
On Adelle Francis and her play in the last three road matches…Â
"Adelle continues to grow and has been able to really assert herself, especially in Big 12 play. We are super excited about her trajectory and really proud of how she has continued to positively impact the team while helping us create and score goals and also physically impose herself defensively. Very, very proud of her."Â
Â
On what she hopes to carry over to Sunday's match at Cincinnati…Â
"The energy, the belief, the grit, the competitiveness and the joy. There has been real intentionality from the team to lean in together and choose to attack this last stretch of Big 12 matches. They know that our strength is in the collective and we are at our best when we are competing for one another. We will be intentional about our recovery and learning from this game to prepare for Cincinnati and be ready to compete on Sunday."
