FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Colleen Corbin
On team's defensive composure in the first 20 minutes…
"We came out with energy and intensity that caused BYU problems and made their life hard. Our team was resilient and gritty and the individual defensive effort all across the field was truly impressive. We had talked as a team about making sure we were intentional with our out of possession identity and I thought the team did a phenomenal job in owning those moments tonight."
Â
On efforts by Moylan and Francis on the goal…
"A phenomenal goal off the corner kick tonight. The service from Lauren (Moylan) was perfect and the header from Adelle (Francis) was really gritty. The team has been collectively talking about being more opportunistic with our set piece moments and that goal is a perfect example of that. Having Adelle as a threat on set pieces is a massive weapon and hopefully we will continue to be able to set her up for more of those moments in the future."
Â
On the 8-10 minute window in which BYU scored its two goals…Â
"Unfortunately, there continue to be things outside our control that are impacting the game, especially with VAR. We collectively just have to be better about managing set piece moments and continuing to own the moments that we can control."Â
Â
On tonight's performance as a step in the right direction…Â
"I am proud of how the group responded after Sunday and felt like our identity as a team was able to shine through. I am incredibly disappointed for us to not earn a result, but this is an unforgiving game in one of the most competitive conferences in the country. We will continue to grow and grind and get back to work to get ready for Kansas next week."Â
