IOWA CITY, Iowa – K-State, despite having two first half goals disallowed by Video Assistant Referee (VAR), played to a 1-1 draw on the road at Iowa on Thursday night at Iowa Soccer Complex. K-State has opened the season with a six-match unbeaten streak.

Combined with its home draw to end the 2025 season, Kansas State (4-0-2) is unbeaten in its last seven matches which is a school record for the longest unbeaten streak in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 23^rd minute, K-State captured the 1-0 lead. Junior forward Allison Marshall gathered a loose ball at the top of the Iowa 18-yard box. With a quick spin, she lost her defender and fired a rocket into the left corner from 19 yards.
- With the goal, Marshall tallied her second of the season and the eighth of her career. She ranks tied for third in program history for career goals.
- In the 29^th minute, K-State had a goal by Gabby DeMers disallowed due to a VAR review initiated by Iowa. It was determined K-State won the ball earlier in the possession with a foul.
- In the 36^th minute, DeMers looked like she scored again on a rocket shot that was mishandled over the head of Iowa goalkeeper Braelynn Galt. The ball took two large bounces and appeared to cross the goal line before she slapped the ball away. The near side assistant referee determined the ball had crossed the line. Despite no camera on either the goal line or inside the goal, a VAR review initiated by Iowa pulled the goal off the board.
- In the 50^th minute, Iowa squared the game, 1-1. Reilly Heman tapped in a pass from Berit Parten. A VAR review initiated by Kansas State confirmed the goal.
-The goal ended K-State's shutout streak at 410:23, which is the third-longest streak in program history and the third streak of over 400 minutes in program history.
- In the 69^th minute, K-State goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing kept the game tied at 1-1. An Iowa shot attempt was redirected the head of Lucia Englund. Sibbing made a leaping save by punching the ball over the crossbar.
- Sibbing ended the night by tying her collegiate career-high with eight saves. This was her highest save total as a Wildcat.
- Iowa held a 25-13 advantage in total shots, but the margin in shots on goal was only 9-7 in favor of the Hawkeyes.

QUICK FACTS
- Head coach Colleen Corbin is 33-30-19 (.518) in her five career seasons as a head coach. She owns a 11-6-7 (.604) mark in her two seasons at K-State.
- The Wildcats are 19-55-18 (.304) in road matches in their history, including a 4-3-5 record in the Corbin era.
- This was the first meeting in the series between K-State and Iowa.
- The Wildcats are 0-7-4 all-time in matches against current members of the Big Ten Conference.

TEAM NOTES
- K-State held a 1-0 lead at halftime on Thursday. In its history, the Wildcats are 29-8-4 when leading at halftime, including a 6-0-2 mark under Corbin's direction.
- When scoring first, the Wildcats own an all-time record of 44-15-6, including a 9-2-2 record during Corbin's tenure.
- Defensively, K-State had its streak of consecutive shutout halves end at eight.

PLAYER NOTES
- Marshall is fifth in program history for career points with 20. She is the fifth player in program history with 20 or more career points.
- With her two shots on goal, Marshall moved into eighth in program history for career shots on goal with 28.
- With her eight saves, Sibbing tallied her fifth match as a Wildcat with five or more saves and the 11^th of her collegiate career. She ranks fifth in program history with 72 saves.
- Senior defender Reece Walrod made her 47th consecutive start. This was her 48^th career start and her 57th career match played. Walrod ranks tied for ninth in program history for career games started.
- Walrod notched 90 minutes of action. With her 90 minutes on Thursday, Walrod improved her career minutes played total to 4,323 and ranks seventh among field players in program history for career minutes played. She has played the full 90 minutes in 25 consecutive matches and 30 of her last 31 matches. She is the only player at a Power 4 program to play 25 or more consecutive matches of 90 or more minutes.
- Senior forward Rilyn Rintoul, senior defender Lily Hendrickson, senior midfielder McKinnan Braswell and junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing each made their 24^th straight starts at K-State.
- Sophomore defender Chloe Dillbeck started her 18^th consecutive match.
- Sophomore midfielder Langley Mayers made her 15^th career start.

"Allison was great today and used her body really well to hold up the ball and then work her way in behind the back line. She has been working incredibly hard in training and continues to put herself in really dangerous positions in the final third. Really happy for her to be rewarded tonight and have the ball hot the back of the net."

On how the team settled into the match after the goal…
"Our team was very intentional about how we prepared for this match and the group executed the game plan especially well in the first half. Our pressing ability as well as our execution in the final third was some of the best I have ever seen from our team. They were confident, composed and relentless. Scoring a goal and continuing to keep their foot on the gas and not back off was so fun to see. I truly don't think I have ever been more proud of our team's performance."

On the disappointment of having two goals disallowed by VAR reviews…
"Truly one of the most deflating experiences I have ever had in my coaching career. The goals that were scored were so good and so well executed and I am just gutted for the players. I really believe that they did everything they needed to do to win a soccer game and unfortunately that just wasn't how it worked out. Soccer can be cruel and there are always factors that are outside of our control. We were on the wrong side of that tonight. I couldn't be more proud of the team's performance and how they responded to adversity. They never stopped fighting."

On Maddie Sibbing tying her career-high with eight saves…
"Maddie showed tonight why she has been recognized as one of the best goalkeepers in the country. She played incredibly well and made some really impressive saves that kept us in the game tonight. All you can ask from your goalkeeper is to come up big in a few moments and give us a chance to win the game and she did exactly that."

On tonight's result boosting the team into the final week of the non-conference schedule…
"It should give the team an immense amount of confidence. Iowa is a very good team, who is consistently in the NCAA Tournament and our girls were on the front foot and went toe to toe with them tonight. I am looking forward to going back to watch the film and seeing all the moments that were so effective and sharing them with the group. There is a real energy and momentum that this team has generated and I am excited to bring that on the road in Colorado next week."
