
Wildcats Place 14 Individuals on Big 12 All-Academic Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's and women's cross country teams placed 14 individuals on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, the Big 12 announced on Thursday, with 10 earning first-team honors. The men's team placed nine individuals on Big 12 All-Academic teams, and the women placed five on the teams.
The Wildcat men placed seven student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, including Brett Bachman, Jeff Bachman, Joe Gorthy, Travis Hodge, Sam Oxandale, Nicholas Skinner and Bryan Zack. Two individuals also earned recognition to the second team, including Colton Donahue and Noah Stevenson.
On the women's team, Anna Keeley, Erin Lee and Emma Wren earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors, with Keeley nominated with a 4.0 grade point average. Sydney Collins and Kayla Doll were awarded second team accolades.
In total, 168 student-athletes across the Big 12 were honored on academics teams, with 67 selections on the men's team and 99 on the women's team. Last year, the Wildcats placed nine individuals on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, with six individuals, Gorthy, Oxandale, Wren, Doll, Donahue and Zack earning their second consecutive honor.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

K-State will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa on Friday at 10:45 a.m., as the Wildcats compete against the Midwest Region.
