MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State
women’s tennis team will head to Lawrence to play No. 30 Kansas Saturday, April
15, at 1 p.m. at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
K-State (11-11, 2-4 Big 12) will look to capitalize against its rival in its third of five consecutive road matches to end the regular season.
The No. 30 Jayhawks (11-6, 3-3 Big 12) will be playing their last home match of the season, where they are 4-2.
Kansas is led by Anastasia Rychagova, who ranks No. 78 in the country. The Jayhawks have also seen strong play from Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum, who has posted a record of 10-2 this spring. Bernard-Feigenbaum, paired with Nina Khmelnitckaia, are ranked as the No. 32 doubles team in the country.
The Jayhawks lead the all-time series, 42-14, with the last K-State win in 2014, where the Wildcats won, 6-1.
Last season, K-State’s Millie Stretton defeated Khmelnitckaia and Livia Cirnu won off retirement. However, Kansas pulled away to win, 4-2.
K-State features six players with double-digit dual win totals. Cirnu leads the Wildcats with 13 wins, while Carolina Costamagna and Ines Mesquita follow behind at 11.
Ana Garcia Navas, Maria Panaite and Stretton all have 10 dual singles win on the year. A career high for both Garcia Navas and Panaite.
Stretton/Garcia Navas lead K-State with nine doubles victories this season. Costamagna/Mesquita have been playing well as of late, winning their last four decisions.
Following the match at Kansas, K-State will play at Baylor on Friday, April 21, then at Texas on April 23, to end the regular season.
