MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head women’s tennis coach Danielle Steinberg announced today the addition of Margot Decker for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
Hailing from Blodelsheim, France, Decker comes to K-State highly decorated and experienced, playing internationally and achieving a world ranking of No. 822 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She participated in the French Open Juniors Championship, reaching the semifinal round for ages 18 and under.
“We are thrilled to have Margot join our program,” said Steinberg. “She will bring to the program a wealth of experience, training and playing at the highest international level. Margot is mature, driven and highly intelligent. She loves and understands the game, and I think has the potential to become an immediate leader of our program”
Decker joins a strong Wildcat recruiting class that includes the top-ranked junior out of Venezuela in Maria Linares and West Virginia-transfer Carolina Lewis, who was the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina.
K-State (12-15, 2-7 Big 12) recently concluded its 2016-17 campaign, reaching the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship before falling to top-ranked Texas Tech.
