
Costamagna, Turco Upset No. 32 Doubles Tandem

Wildcats finish 4-0 in singles play
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Carolina Costamagna and Anna Turco's victory over a nationally-ranked doubles opponent along with a 4-0 single record headlined the K-State women's tennis team's second day of the Mizzou Invitational at the Missouri Tennis Complex Friday.
Costamagna and Turco improved their doubles record to 2-0 this season with a 6-4 victory over Missouri's Marta Oliveira and Amina Ismail, who were ranked No. 32 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Pitted against Memphis in Friday's singles draw, the Cats finished 4-0 against the Tigers. Turco, a freshman from Mondovi, Italy, defeated Memphis' Hanna Sohn, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, for her second singles victory in as many days.
Meghan King won the first singles match of her Wildcat career, defeating Memphis' Josephine Cao, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Ines Mesquita won in straight sets over the Tigers' Laura Bente, moving to 2-0 on the season in singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Costamagna bounced back from a Day 1 loss at the Mizzou Invite with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 straight-set victory over Lina Hohnold from Memphis.
K-State's second doubles pair of King and Mesquita dropped their first doubles match of this season in a 4-6 loss to Missouri's Serena Nash and Ellie Wright.
K-State is now 6-2 in singles matches and 3-1 in doubles matches this season.
The Cats will finish their four-team, three-day tournament on Saturday with doubles matches vs. Wichita State at 9 a.m. CT. K-State's singles lineup is scheduled to face off with Missouri at noon.
