TUCSON, Ariz. – Kansas State freshman Niamh McSherry had a very strong showing on Saturday as she moved into a tie for 11th place following the second round of the MountainView Collegiate Invitational at the par-72, 6,227-yard MountainView Golf Club.

McSherry carded a 1-under par 71 in round two and currently stands at 2-over par 144. Connie Jaffrey is also tied for 11th heading into the final round.

The Wildcats carded a 14-over par 302 during the second round for a 36-hole score of 24-over par 600. K-State remained in a sixth-place tie, one it now shares with Middle Tennessee. The Wildcats are eight strokes away from fourth place.

"We played a lot of good golf today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Unfortunately, we did not finish as strong as we would like. I am proud of the effort. We have to keep playing. Niamh had one of the few under-par rounds in the extreme wind today."

Rounding out the Cats was Ella Adams, who is at 10-over par 154 to tie for 47th, Reid Isaac, who is currently tied for 55th at 13-over par 157, and Darby Deans, who is at 14-over par 158 and tied for 58th.

Kansas tops the leaderboard at 13-over par 589, two shots ahead of San Jose State and three ahead of a three-way tie for third. Four players are tied for first with a two-round score of 1-under par 143.

The MountainView Collegiate will conclude on Sunday with an 8 a.m. (MT) start, and live results can be followed on www.birdiefire.com.
