K-State Announces 2018 Soccer Schedule

MANHATTAN, Kansas – For the first time in program history, Kansas State soccer will open its season at home as part of the 2018 schedule. During its third season of action, the Wildcats will play a program record 10 regular season home matches at the K-State Soccer Complex including five Big 12 matches.
"We are excited for our challenging and great fall schedule," said third-year head coach Mike Dibbini. "Our schedule has a variety of challenges in non-conference play that will allow us to evolve and prepare for our tough conference. We have the opportunity this season to play on the road against national power Santa Clara and a stiff challenge of San Jose State. We will also play our first-ever Big Ten opponent with our match at Indiana, which will provide us with a good road test before Big 12 play. These matches along with the remainder of our non-conference matches will prepare us to see where we need to be before our second stint in the Big 12. We are looking forward to an exciting season with an exciting schedule."
K-State will play a pair of exhibition matches to open its season, as the Wildcats will travel to Arkansas on Saturday, August 4, for a 6:30 p.m., match. The Wildcats will play its first home Division I exhibition match on Wednesday, August 8, as K-State will host Minnesota at 7 p.m.
Kansas State will begin its third season of action with a three-match home stand of opponents from the inaugural season of 2016. For the second time in three seasons, the Wildcats will play a season-opening match against Saint Louis as the teams will meet on Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m. K-State played the first match in program history against the Billikens in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 19, 2016, a 3-1 Saint Louis win.
The Billikens finished the 2017 season with a 15-3-2 overall record and a 7-2-1 record in the Atlantic 10. Saint Louis fell to St. Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship with a 1-0 decision.
In the second match of the opening weekend, K-State will host Oakland on Sunday, August 19 at 1 p.m. K-State faced the Golden Grizzlies in the inaugural season, securing the first win in program history with a 6-0 decision in Rochester, Michigan, on August 26, 2016. Oakland completed the 2017 season with a 3-14-1 record.
K-State concludes the three-match home stand with visit from Drake on Thursday, August 23, at 7 p.m. The Wildcats dropped a 1-0 decision to the Bulldogs in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 2, 2016.
Drake capped the 2017 season with a 13-4-2 overall record including a 6-0-1 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) record and the regular season title. The Bulldogs completed its season with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Northern Iowa in the MVC tournament in Springfield, Missouri.
The 2018 road schedule will begin with a two-match trip to California. This will be K-State's first trip to the state of California. Kansas State will face Santa Clara on Thursday, August 30, at 9:30 p.m. (CT), followed by a match at San Jose State on Sunday, September 2, at 2 p.m. (CT).
Santa Clara ended the 2017 season with a third-round loss to South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos carded a 15-7-1 overall record and finished second in the West Coast Conference with an 8-1-0 league mark.
San Jose State also reached the 2017 NCAA Tournament and dropped a 1-0 decision at Mississippi State in the first round. The Spartans finished with a 12-6-2 overall record and captured the Mountain West Conference regular season title with a 9-1-1 record.
K-State returns home on Friday, September 7, to face UMKC, at 7 p.m. This will be the second time Kansas State will host UMKC, as the Wildcats defeated the Kangaroos, 2-0, on September 30, 2016, to cap the inaugural home schedule.
UMKC captured the Western Athletic Conference regular season title with a 7-0-0 record, while ending with a 12-7-1 overall record.
The Wildcats will then play two of its next three matches on the road, as K-State will travel to Bloomington, Indiana, to face Indiana on Sunday, September 9, at 1 p.m. This will be K-State's first match against a Big Ten opponent. Indiana ended the 2017 season with a 6-9-4 record and an 11th place finish in the Big Ten with a 2-6-3 record.
Kansas State will wrap up the non-conference portion of its home schedule on Friday, September 14, against Missouri State at 7 p.m. The Bears downed the Wildcats, 2-0, on October 17, 2016, in Springfield, Missouri.
Missouri State reached the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament by securing the MVC's automatic bid as the conference tournament champion. The Bears ended the season with a 10-9-2 overall record.
K-State's final regular season non-conference match will take place on Sunday, September 16, at Tulsa, at 2 p.m. This will be K-State's first meeting with the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa ended its 2017 season with a 3-12-4 overall record, including a 1-6-2 record in the American Athletic Conference.
Kansas State will open Big 12 action with a two-game home stand. The Wildcats will welcome 2017 Big 12 regular season champion Oklahoma State on Friday, September 21, at 7 p.m., and Oklahoma on Sunday, September 23, at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats will then make its first trip to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face West Virginia on Friday, September 28, at 6 p.m. (CT).
Kansas State returns to the Little Apple to start a three-match home stand with the second meeting of the Sunflower Showdown on Friday, October 5, at 7 p.m., as Kansas visits the K-State Soccer Complex. The following weekend, K-State hosts Texas Tech on Friday, October 12, at 7 p.m., and will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, October 14, at 12:30 p.m., against TCU.
K-State will end its second season of Big 12 action with a three-match road trip. The Wildcats will visit 2017 Big 12 tournament champion Baylor on Friday, October 19, at 7 p.m., and will visit Texas on Sunday, October 21, at 1 p.m.
The regular season comes to an end on Thursday, October 25, at 7 p.m., in Ames, Iowa, as the Wildcats face Iowa State. The two teams played in the regular season finale in 2017, as the Cyclones secured a 2-1 win over the Wildcats in Manhattan.
The 2018 Big 12 Conference Championship will be held at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 28-November 4.
Kansas State concluded its second season of action and its first in the Big 12 in 2017 with an overall record of 6-11-1 and a league mark of 1-8-0. The six wins were a new program high for wins in a season, while the Wildcats picked up their first Big 12 win on October 6 at Kansas.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by a pair of freshmen, as Brooklynn Entz registered 11 points and Hannah Davis tallied nine. Entz set the single season record for goals with five, while Davis, a 2017 Big 12 All-Freshman team selection, set the single season mark for assists with five.
The Wildcats return 98 percent of its total point scorers from last season and 100 percent of the goals scored from 2017. In addition to the returners from 2017, K-State also welcomes 10 freshmen for the 2018 season.
Supporters Packages are now available for the 2018 season. Supporters Packages are just $50 for one, or $160 for a Soccer Supporters 4-Pack. Each package includes a 2018 K-State Soccer scarf and t-shirt, and the ability to select a season ticket for either general admission grandstand or open lawn seating, or select no season tickets for those who are K-State students or live out of state. The price does not change for fans who decline season tickets.
