Jaffrey at 3-Over Par Heading into Final Round

May 08, 2018 | Women's Golf

MADISON, Wis. – Kansas State senior women's golfer Connie Jaffrey carded a 3-over par 75 on Tuesday as she is tied for 44th place following round two of the 2018 NCAA Madison Regional at University Ridge Golf Course.

Jaffrey, a product of Kilwinning, Scotland, is currently at 3-over par 147 through 36 holes. She is four strokes away from the top-20 heading into Wednesday's final round.

"I am very proud of Connie," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Today was tough. She hit quite a few good shots but was unable to hole the putt. She grazed the edge several times and had an approach shot or two that ran out on her.

"In this game, you need a good bounce here and there. She did not get that today," Knight continued. "Understandably, her energy level was down. She is tired. She fought hard all day."

Jaffrey, who had been fighting an illness as of late, followed up her impressive performance from Monday with a very respectable one on Tuesday. Jaffrey was solid through the front nine again, finishing at even-par as she picked up a birdie on No. 1 and a bogey on No. 3. However, Jaffrey ran out of steam on the back nine as she bogeyed Nos. 10 and 15 to go along with a double-bogey on No. 17 and a birdie on No. 16.

Duke tops the team leaderboard after carding an impressive 14-under par 562, eight strokes better than second-place Virginia. Nicole Schroeder of Oregon State holds a four-shot lead on the individual leaderboard at 10-under par 134.

The NCAA Madison Regional will conclude with the final 18 holes on Wednesday. Live results can be followed at www.golfstat.com.
