Wildcats Ready for Rainbow Wahine Invitational
Oct 16, 2026 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Coming off two weeks of practice and preparation, the Kansas State women's golf team is set to compete in its final event of the fall, the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Monday through Wednesday, at the par-72, 6,058-yard Ocean Course at Hokuala in Lihue, Hawai'i.
Â
This is the second time the Wildcats have competed in the event after finishing in second place out of 15 teams nearly two years ago to the day.
Â
"We are looking forward to finishing out our fall season strong," head coach Stew Burke said. "We have had a great week at home to prepare along with Keen (Visavapattamawan) and Mia (Ingham) coming off top-five finishes in an individual event. We know we will have to do a good job of driving the ball this week and be prepared for rain with wind throughout the event."
Â
The Wildcats will be represented in Hawai'i by juniors Kelsey Chen and Nanami Nakashima as well as freshman Amy Wang along with Visavapattamawan and Ingham.
Â
"There is a good mix of youth and experience in the lineup," Burke said. "This our fifth different lineup of the season, which speaks to the depth of our roster and sets us up for an extremely competitive spring as we make a postseason push."
Â
Chen and Nakashima lead the Wildcats with an identical scoring average of 72.17 over 12 rounds. Chen, a native of Dalian, China, has posted a pair of top-10 finishes, including a victory at the Powercat Classic and an eighth-place showing last time out at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Â
Nakashima, who hails from Kani, Japan, has three top-20 showings this year with her best being a runner-up finish to Chen in the Powercat Classic. Two years ago in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Nakashima finished in 11th place at 4-under par 212.
Â
A product of Guangzhou City, China, Wang has been in the scoring lineup for every event this fall, recording a 74.58 scoring average. She is coming off a season-best finish of a tie for 11th place in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Â
Visavapattamawan and Ingham recently competed as individuals in the Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Missouri, finishing in fourth place and tying for fifth place, respectively. In 12 rounds this season, Visavapattamawan holds a 73.83 scoring average with two top-20 finishes as she also tied for 13th place in the Powercat Classic. Ingham has recorded a 73.67 scoring average in three events.
Â
Joining the Wildcats and host-school Hawai'i at the Ocean Course is Appalachian State, BYU, Eastern Michigan, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Nevada, Prairie View A&M, Sacramento State, San Diego State, Tulane and Washington State, as well as Osaka Gakuin, a university located in Suita, Japan.
The first and second rounds of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (HT) on Monday and Tuesday, while Wednesday's final round will hold a 9 a.m. (HT) shotgun start. Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
