Terrell Smith Earns Second Team All-America on First Day of NCAA Championships
Â
Among those who competed on day one, senior Terrell Smith earned second team All-America honors in the men's 200 meters, running 20.71, to become the first Wildcat in K-State outdoor history to become an All-American in the event.
Â
"I am pretty happy with how the race turned out. It was special to run my last race at the [NCAA] Championships, especially after missing All-America during my freshman and sophomore years," Smith said. "Ultimately, I just wanted to leave a legacy and have fun."
Â
Smith, a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, entered Wednesday's NCAA Championships with the 16th fastest time from the NCAA Preliminary rounds. On Wednesday, Smith ran out of the second heat, where he ran a 20.71 to place sixth in his heat and 16th overall. In addition to becoming just the first K-State All-American in the 200 meters, Smith also holds the indoor and outdoor records in the event.

Â
On his second attempt, Dixon improved upon his initial mark by two meters, recording a mark of 63.10m/207-00.
