
Postseason Football Guide Tops K-State CoSIDA National Honors

MANHATTAN, Kansas – The Kansas State Athletics Communication department recently received a total of nine national honors for excellence in 2017-18 from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) national convention in Washington, D.C.
The Athletic Communications department, under the direction of Senior Associate Athletics Director for Communications Kenny Lannou, earned Best in the Nation honors for the 2017 Cactus Bowl guide in the Postseason Guides category. K-State also finished among the top-five in the nation for the following categories from CoSIDA: women's basketball poster, women's basketball media guide, women's basketball 50th season poster, men's basketball game notes, baseball poster, men's golf poster, men's basketball poster and women's tennis poster.
With its nine honors in 2017-18, K-State finished third nationally for overall honors. During the last 13 years, Kansas State's publications have garnered 31 Top 5 national honors and 44 named among the top three in the district.
The 2017 Cactus Bowl guide was written and designed by Director of Football and Golf Communications, Ryan Lackey and Lannou. This is the second "Best in the Nation" honor for the duo, as they combined to earn the top honor from CoSIDA for the 2015 football media guide.
The 2017-18 women's basketball media guide was written and designed by Director of Women's Basketball and Soccer Communications Randy Peterson. This was the fourth straight year the women's basketball media guide has been among the top-three in the nation, earning "Best in the Nation" honors in 2014-15 and 2015-16 and a national runner-up finish in 2016-17.
The 2017-18 men's basketball game notes were written and designed by Director of Men's Basketball Communications Tom Gilbert. Gilbert has been a well decorated member of the department, as he has finished in the top five in the nation for his men's basketball media guides numerous times, including a national runner-up effort in 2015-16.
The posters, as well as the covers for each of K-State's media guides, were produced by Graphics Designer Ron Cook. Over the last 10 seasons, over 36 K-State sports posters designed by Cook have been judged among the Top 10 nationally.
